How do you make a five-story, 24,200 square-foot behemoth look at home in a neighborhood of smaller, mostly two-and-a-half story, buildings? Kirschenfeld managed that feat by breaking down the building's mass. The two-story townhouse-like main entrance, which creates a shallow, recesed court, draws the eye while dividing the building in two.
