Night in the Park, 1921
Allen Memorial Art Museum
Gift of Patricia and James Pohlman, 2003.2

Among the various strengths of the AMAM's extensive collection of works on paper are those works by American artists of the 20th century. This exhibition of more than 70 prints, drawings, and photographs by many of the leading American painters, printmakers, and photographers of the last century affords a glimpse into the exciting evolution of modern art as seen through the eyes of the American avant-garde. Included in the exhibition is an important etching by Edward Hopper, Night in the Park, 1921, a recent gift of Mr. and Mrs. James Pohlman. Because of their sensitivity to light, works on paper cannot be exhibited for extended periods of time. Consequently, this is an excellent opportunity for viewers to acquaint themselves with an important part of the rich and diverse collection of graphic art and photography at the AMAM.
