Since his triumphant win of the 1970 Chopin International Piano Competition, Garrick Ohlsson has established himself worldwide as a musician of magisterial interpretive and technical prowess. Praised for his “unfailingly beautiful tonal variety” (Washington Post), Ohlsson has appeared in the world’s top venues, in addition to being a Grammy Award-winning recording artist. A leading exponent of the music of Chopin, Ohlsson is also recognized for commanding an enormous repertoire, and his Oberlin performance will feature works by Brahms, Liszt, and Granados.
“[Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto] was a gloriously warm, richly romantic and effusively mellifluous reading that was, simply put, sheer poetry.”
