The movement explorations of standing, falling, and physical partnering that became a hallmark of Contact Improvisation were first developed during Steve Paxton’s 1972 winter term project Magnesium. This year’s Oberlin Dance Company builds on the enduring legacy of Contact Improvisation at Oberlin College with a collaborative performance including theater artists and various musicians, as well as the dancers in the Varsity Contact class. Directed by Ann Cooper Albright, chair and professor of dance.
