More than a House

Lord-Saunders Afrikan Heritage House (AHH) is one of the college’s theme-based, residential program houses open to all students. Soul Sessions, art shows, and current event discussions are just some of the activities that take place here. AHH also is a host site for admitted students of color who visit Oberlin through the all-expenses paid Multicultural Visit Program (MVP) that includes tours, visits to classrooms and labs, plus select events. MVP is part of All Roads Lead to Oberlin that features the annual Vernon Johns celebration.

Johns, a farmer, preacher, and 1918 Oberlin graduate, is considered the father of the civil rights movement. MVP participants will meet Johns’ family members on April 19 during the 24th Annual Vernon Johns Celebration and Dinner.
