Center Stage Soloist 06 May 2013
Award-winning harpist Rebekah Efthimiou was the center of attention during her solo performance this spring in Finney Chapel. Rebekah was one of four senior musicians selected for the 2012 Oberlin Conservatory Concerto Competition, an annual contest that takes place each October and is open to conservatory seniors and Artist Diploma students.
The Delhi, NY, native studied with acclaimed harpist Yolanda Kondonassis while at the conservatory. She performed the Ginastera Harp Concerto with the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra directed by Raphael Jiménez. Other winners featured in concert this semester included pianist Zhi Qiao of Anyang, China; clarinetist Paul DeRonne of Elmhurst, IL; and violinist Wyatt Underhill of Elm Grove, WI.
