Border Crossing 17 May 2013
Students enrolled in the Border Studies Program (BSP) learn what life is like for persons living in border communities, such as El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juaréz, Mexico. These two border communities are alike except for the wall that separates them, which, as seen here, became a place for Mexican artists to decorate and creatively express themselves.
BSP, established in the mid-90s, draws students from a consortium of schools in the Great Lakes College Association of which Oberlin is a member. The semester-long program, now based in Tucson, Arizona, requires students to examine issues related to migration, human rights, globalization, food systems, and the environment.
