A Locavore’s Dilemma

Slow Train Café brewed its first pot of Cleveland-roasted coffee in May 2010, and has become one of Oberlin’s most beloved spots for socializing, studying, and getting a morning caffeine fix. Café co-owner Jessa New ’01 has witnessed the local food scene change from her days as a student. “The focus on locally sourced products has become less of a trend and more of a passion and way of life,” she says.

For a town of its size Oberlin has more than its fair share of culinary choices. Several townspeople and alumni own many of its restaurants, offering up organic and tasty cuisines including Mexican, Korean, and Middle Eastern.
