Ultimate Flier 12 July 2013
Many people may consider tossing a Frisbee a carefree activity, but at Oberlin College, Ultimate Frisbee is a club sport affiliated with the Ultimate Players Association. Agility, speed, concentration, and perhaps the ability to fly, as alumnus Michael Emerson Dirda ’09 seems to be doing (or at least looks like it), are among the necessary skills in this fun non-contact sport.
The Flying Horsecows and Preying Manti are the men’s and women’s teams, respectively. They participate in intercollegiate competitions and follow a self-governing concept called the Spirit of the Game: simple rules, sportsmanship, fair play and no referees.
