Violins, Bows, and Woodchips, Oh My! 29 July 2013
The realm of the violin is explored from many vantage points at Oberlin. For nearly 30 summers, the Violin Society of America has run workshops on campus, offering an extraordinary laboratory for some of the world’s most talented violin and bow makers. Noted restorer Vahakn Nigogosian organized the original restoration workshop on campus in 1986.
Each academic year, Conservatory of Music violinists study with faculty, honing skills and techniques that allow them to bring some of the most moving music ever written out of this genius of invention, the violin.
