Focused on Flute

Oberlin’s flute professor Alexa Still listens intently in order to appraise her student as she performs for a studio class. These sessions give Still the opportunity to address challenges all flutists face, and help students learn how to give constructive advice to their young colleagues as they hone their budding teaching skills. “I try to encourage my students to think about what they want to do, get them thinking on a bigger scale, and help them with all the tools they need to make themselves excellent,” she says.

Still, a Conservatory of Music faculty member since 2011, maintains an active concert schedule and has 14 music CDs to her credit.
