Oberlin College has a long-standing commitment to service, activism, and making the world a better place. Each year, hundreds of students serve Oberlin and surrounding areas through community service scholarship programs, credit-bearing courses, work-study jobs, volunteer work, and student organizations, going outside the bubble of campus and into the community at large.
During the 17th annual Day of Service, first-year and transfer students rolled up their sleeves and set off for activities as varied as pulling weeds, painting and cleaning, and even engaging with children and adults with disabilities. This year more than 450 students reported to more than 35 service sites in and around Oberlin.
