The Frank Kuchirchuk Collection of Jazz Photography

Frank Kuchirchuk, a retired photographer who took live jazz performance photographs at Lindsay’s Sky Bar, a popular Cleveland nightclub, in 1952 and 1953, has donated his entire collection of jazz images to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. The Frank Kuchirchuk Collection of Jazz Photography contains nearly 200 images, most of which are negatives that have never been seen by the public, and feature such artists as Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Art Tatum, Stan Getz, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and Anita O'Day performing at the height of their careers. The collection will be cataloged and archived within the Bertram and Judith Kohl Building, where a selection of the photographs will be on display.
