1995 honorees

Conductor and composer John Williams, winner or 16 Grammys and five Academy Awards, received an honorary Doctor of Music degree 7 May in a brief ceremony in the Allen Memorial Art Museum. While secretary of the college Robert Haslun (left) held the hood, President Nancy S. Dye presented the diploma. The next day Williams conducted the Oberlin Orchestra in an open rehearsal in Finney.

During Monday's commencement ceremonies Dye will award thre emore honorary degrees. The recipients will be Johnetta Betsch Cole '57, president of Spelman College, who will give the commencement address; Peter T. Flawn '46, geologist and emeritus president of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Shirley Johnson will receive the college's anual award for distinguished service to the community.
