OhioLINK Affiliates Borrowing Privileges

Font size: AAA

The colleges and universities participating in OhioLINK have agreed to extend borrowing privileges at their libraries to the faculty, staff, and students of other OhioLINKmember institutions.

What circulates?

In-person OhioLINK borrowing is limited to the same portion of the collection and uses the same policies and procedures as OhioLINK direct requesting. Most books, scores, and government documents may be borrowed by OhioLINK patrons. Some microfilm in the Conservatory Library is also available for loan. The Oberlin College Library circulates periodicals, sound recordings, video recordings only to Oberlin College students and employees.

Check Out

Check-out is handled through the "Visiting Patron" function of our circulation system.

A current library card from the borrower's home institution is required for check-out. If the institution does not use library cards, a picture ID and the appropriate verification information (usually a barcode number or ID number) are acceptable.

Loan periods and fines

Loan periods and fines are set by the OhioLINK community and are the same for all borrowers.

Type of material Loan period Fine rate
Books, Scores & Government Publications 3 weeks $0.50/day
Conservatory Microfilm library use only n/a
Bound periodicals library use only n/a
Unbound periodicals library use only n/a
Other Microforms library use only n/a

Borrowers are responsible for returning library materials in good condition by the due date. The books may be returned to the borrowers' home institutions for delivery to Oberlin, however, the borrower remains responsible for any fines resulting from the arrival of the materials after the due date.

Renewals

You may renew printed materials and microfilm for one additional three week period. Renewals are handled at the patron's home library.

Loss of privileges

Borrowing privileges may be blocked by the patron's home library. We have no record of the reasons for the loss of privileges, and encourage borrowers to contact their home library to resolve any problems.

Fine payment

All library fines are paid at the patron's home library.
