OBERLIN MUSIC COALITION TO PRESENT ANNUAL WINTER CHILDREN'S CONCERT ON FEBRUARY 2, 2002 |
||||||||||||
JANUARY 29, 2002-- The Oberlin Music Coalition, a community outreach organization run by Oberlin Conservatory students, will present their annual winter children's concert on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 3:00 P.M. in Warner Concert Hall at the Oberlin Conservatory located on the corner of Professor and East College Street. This concert is free and open to the public. This year's concert will feature the Oberlin Music Coalition All-Star Orchestra, comprised of Oberlin Conservatory students, conducted by John Goodell (OC '98). They will perform Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals, Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice and Copland's Hoe-Down from Rodeo in collaboration with choreographer Dana Kotler (OC '00). Before the concert, the audience will be invited to explore a Musical Petting Zoo and Puppet Pandemonium from 2:15 - 3:00 P.M. in the Warner Concert Hall lobby. These events will allow children to experience orchestral instruments first hand and create their own puppets for interaction during the concert. The Oberlin Music Coalition is a student-organized outreach program now celebrating its seventh year. Founded in 1994, the Coalition continues to pursue its mission by facilitating musical interaction between Oberlin students and the broader Oberlin community. The Coalition offers music workshops, private lessons, and an annual winter children's concert. All Oberlin Music Coalition events are free and open to the public. |
