FORMER CLINTON PRESS SECRETARY TO SPEAK AT OBERLIN COLLEGE

SEPTEMBER 18, 2002-- Mike McCurry, President Clinton's former press secretary, will speak at Oberlin College October 3, 2002, as part of the Cole Distinguished Lecture Series in American Politics. McCurry's presentation, entitled "A View from the Podium," will begin at noon in the science center's West Lecture Hall.

McCurry is currently chairman and CEO of Grassroots Enterprise, Inc., a corporation that uses technology to give non-profit and grassroots organizations leverage in the realm of public policy-making. He is also affiliated with Public Strategies Group, LLC, which provides communications guidance to clients in both the private and public sectors.

McCurry's career in politics began in 1976 in the U.S. Senate, where he was press secretary to the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. He has also served as director of communications for the Democratic National Committee, and held several leadership roles within the presidential campaigns of Senator John Glenn, Governor Bruce Babbitt, and Senator Bob Kerrey.

McCurry also sits on the boards for Share Our Strength, the Center for International Private Enterprise, the Council for Excellence in Government, the Junior Statesmen Foundation, the Wesley Theological Seminary, and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
