Warming the Winter Air: The Oberlin Jazz Septet on Tour
In a breath of fresh, if chilly, air, the Oberlin Jazz Septet (OJS) will be energizing audiences on a tour to several major U.S. cities in January. The group’s winter tour is an annual tradition for the ensemble, which represents outstanding student performers, arrangers, and composers who have been handpicked by members of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music’s legendary jazz faculty.

A Cornucopia of Oberlin Concerts: Three Exciting Artist Recital Series Events in November
For almost 130 years, Oberlin College has been hosting its renowned Artist Recital Series, one of the oldest continuing concert series in America. The month of November is a veritable horn of plenty for the series, with three exciting concerts planned for Oberlin’s historic Finney Chapel.

A Midsummer Night's Dream in Autumn, at Oberlin: Benjamin Britten's Opera will be Staged by Oberlin Opera Theater November 14-18
Since it opened on the British stage in 1960, Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a feast for the senses and a deliciously wicked comedy, has captivated opera lovers. The Oberlin production of this magnificent opera opens on Wednesday, November 14, at 8 p.m. in Oberlin College’s Hall Auditorium, located at 67 N. Main Street on Route 58, between the Oberlin Inn and the Allen Memorial Art Museum. With a libretto adapted from Shakespeare’s play by Britten and Peter Pears, the opera, sung in English, is in three acts with two intermissions.

Korean Monks Bring the Music of Buddhism to Oberlin College's Finney Chapel on October 30
Harmonies as resonant and meditative as the religious devotion they represent will fill Oberlin College’s Finney Chapel when the monks of Korea’s Young San Preservation Group perform in concert on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at 7 p.m. “The Sound of Ecstasy and Nectar of Enlightenment: Buddhist Ritual Song and Dance from Korea” is free and open to the public. Finney Chapel is wheelchair accessible, and is located at 90 North Professor Street, across from Tappan Square on the Oberlin campus.

Oberlin Conservatory of Music Launches Commercial Record Label
At a time when digital downloading has silenced a number of major music retailers, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music is facing the music with its own new, commercial label. Oberlin Music, which features select recordings made by the talented students and faculty members at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, debuts with two releases that capture the Conservatory’s sense of innovation, spirit, and universality. The recordings are available on traditional CD as well as on digital music channels worldwide, including Apple’s iTunes.
