Event: "Performing the Music of Chopin and Liszt" Two performances: program features Chopin and Liszt performed by Melinda Faylor ('02) of Forest Hills, NY; Stephanie Ho (double major '99) of Portland, OR, both students of Robert Shannon; and Akiko Tsukamoto ('01) of Tokyo, Japan, a student of Monique Duphil. DATES /TIME / 2 LOCATIONS: Monday, February 1 Tuesday, February 2 BACKGROUND: As a Winter Term Project, three piano majors studied the music of Chopin and Liszt while performing the music on the Conservatory's restored 1853 Erard piano and Erythea's 1845 Broadwood piano. For the project, students also read accounts written by students of the composers, and listened to historical recordings. (While there is no such thing as a recording by Chopin or Liszt, recorded performances from the early 20th century provide a glimpse of an older tradition - one quite removed from a typical performance of today.)
