OBERLIN--Royal Crown Revue, the band that almost single-handedly revived swing, will appear at Oberlin College late in October as part of a nationwide tour.

The first band in recent years to play swing music and dress in '40's double-breasted zoot suits with all the attendant regalia, RCR has been playing hard-hitting, original music for the better part of a decade. They are equally adept at energizing a mosh pit, charming a black-tie reception or grooving a Las Vegas lounge.

RCR has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Viva Variety and the Today Show; and has been featured on MTV and in countless movie trailers, Las Vegas shows, a national ad campaign and even the Miss America pageant.

In a single week in 1996, the band received standing ovations from crowds at concerts for both KISS and Neil Diamond, an accolade few others can claim.

RCR recreated its energetic stage show for Jim Carrey's film The Mask and the group served as the inspiration for the movie Swingers, with writer/star John Favreau originally scripting the dance sequence around his experiences as a regular at the band's shows.

In 1996, Warner Bros. Records released the RCR album Mugzy's Move . Their other albums include The Contender (1998), Caught in the Act (1997) and Kings of Gangster Bop (1991).

To date, RCR has presented over 1,000 performances, including such countries as Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the US. Most recently, the band contributed to tracks to the latest Bette Midler album, appeared at the Playboy Jazz Festival and composed the original theme for the WB Network's 1998-99 season.
