Our global assessment consists of four approaches: 1)
A general survey of the research experience within each course from
the students' perspective. 2) a pre-test/post-test survey of the students
in a subset of courses designed to assess changes in attitude, knowledge,
intentions, and skills. 3) a faculty survey on the design of their
courses and perspectives on the impact of the research experience
on their teaching effectiveness. And, 4) an empirical study of the
knowledge obtained through the research experience versus lecture
for a sample of the courses.
