DESCRIPTION
Add about 70 mg of luminol (5-amino-2,3-dihydro-1,4-[thalazinedione) to 150 ml of 0.1 M sodium hydroxide aqueous solution.  Stir until well mixed and the luminol dissolves.  Then add about 50 ml of Chlorox bleach to the luminol solution.  Immediately a bright blue light will be emitted.  The bleach oxidizes the luminol.  One of the reaction products is formed in an exicted state which emits the light.

NOTES

This requires much advance notice since the chemicals must be ordered.
