Wet the bird's head. Evaporative
cooling causes the freon
vapor in the head to condense, which lowers the vapor pressure in the
head relative
to the body and draws the liquid up the
tube.
This shifts the bird's center of mass, causing it to tip into the
water; the pressure equalizes,
and the cycle repeats.
