Conductivity Comparator

Wrap a piece of paper around the wood cylinder and brass tube which are joined end to end. Place the junction in the flame of the burner. The part of the paper wrapped around the wood chars, whereas that around the brass doesn't since the heat is so rapidly conducted away by the metal.
