DESCRIPTION
The cylinder is
filled with ice water, with a mixture of ice and
salt in the trough around the middle. Water reaches its maximum
density at 4° C, so the denser water at the bottom will near 4° C and the water at the
top will be at a lower temperature.
NOTES
- Monitor and display the temperatures
with thermometers and a video camera, or with the Vernier temperature
probes and a laptop.
