DESCRIPTION
Cool the copper coil in the dewar of
liquid nitrogen. The pitch rises remarkably as the coil is raised
from liquid nitrogen temperature by heating with propane torch.
This shows that the velocity of sound rises with increasing
temperature.
NOTES
Support dewar with a ringstand and
clamps. Support the organ pipe horizontally with ringstands and
clamps.
