These sets of toothed wheels are
used to demonstrate
the relationship between pitch and frequency. Hold a card against
the teeth of the spinning wheels and a chord can be heard. For
one
set, the ratio of number of teeth per wheel is 4:5:6:8 which is the
same
as the ratio of the frequencies in a major chord. The other set
produces
a minor chord.
