Alum urges everyone to vote
To the Editors: As an Oberlin alum who spent a lot of time working with community organizations, kids, bikes and the schools when we were students, we got to know many individuals involved with the city government and town-gown relations. I’ve seen many students do a lot of good in town through activism, volunteer work and through becoming involved in the political process, as we did last spring to help pass crucial school levies. On Tuesday, Oberlin will be electing a new City Council, and I hope folks come out to support Daniel Gardner, Eve Sandberg and Charles Peterson. We believe like many other Oberlinians in both town and gown, that the time to elect a more progressive, activist City Council is now. It was a genuine disappointment to work on the big parade and have to deal with City officials who were Oberlin needs change and people on council who can help bridge the town-college divide. Please exercise your right to vote on Nov. 4, and remember that you don’t have to cast seven votes; it’s most effective to vote only for the people you want to see on City Council. –Zach Moser |
