Vote Eli Rosenfeld
To the editors: In my four-plus years here at Oberlin, there have been very few improvements in the relationship between Oberlin College students and Oberlin residents. Many Oberlin students see the town as a “pit stop,” benefiting from it, but giving little back. This upcoming Tuesday, Oberlin students can choose to try and make a difference. Eli Rosenfeld, a fellow student, is running for city council. Eli has put forth practical, informed suggestions to improve Oberlin’s financial situation. If this were to be achieved, it would create greater economic independence for the town of Oberlin. Not only is this very important to the town itself, it is also a first step towards better college and town relations. I have worked with Eli since he first came to Oberlin, and have seen his ideas and hard work benefit Oberlin students in tangible ways. Eli wants more than to just help Oberlin students, he has a strong and admirable desire to really help the community at large. I fully support Eli’s campaign for city council, and I urge every student to think hard about what they can do for this community. Voting for Eli is an important first step, but it is only the beginning. —Wendy Jackson |
