Dec. 4, 2:10 a.m. Officers responded to a trouble alarm at Fireland’s Building. A room detector was taken down on the seventh floor, activating the alarm. The detector was replaced and the alarms reset.

Dec. 5, 12:39 a.m. An officer on patrol observed a small fire burning out the dumpster at Keep. Oberlin Fire Department also responded and the fire was extinguished. Incident is under investigation.

Dec. 5, 10:20 p.m. An officer responded to Allen Medical Center after receiving notification that a student, ill from alcohol, was being treated. The student was being held overnight for observation.

Dec. 6, 12:46 a.m.
An officer responded to a report of an ill subject in the restroom on the first floor of Fairchild. The student was ill from alcohol consumption. The student was escorted to his room and left in the care of his roommate. Information on care was given to the roommate.

Dec. 6, 4:20 a.m.
A resident of Langston Hall reported unknown individuals opened her room door and threw snow inside. The incident is under investigation.

Dec. 6, 6:41 a.m.
Several residents of Barrows Hall reported snow being thrown into their dorm rooms. Three male individuals were observed running through the building with snowballs. Officers responded; follow up is being conducted.

Dec. 6, 4:44 p.m.
A student reported the theft of her cello from her off campus residence on South Main Street. The cello is a Michael Boronok 1996, valued at $8,500. The theft of the cello was also reported to the Oberlin Police Department.

Dec. 7, 4:54 p.m.
A resident of Burton reported the theft of $180 from her wallet which was in her room. The resident left the room unlocked for a short period of time. When she returned the money was missing.

Dec. 7, 4:26 p.m.
An officer, along with emergency medical staff, responded to Wilder DeCafe after receiving a report of a student passed out. Upon arrival the student was alert, very pale and complained that his stomach hurt. The individual was transported to Allen Medical Center for treatment.

Dec. 7, 8:56 p.m.
Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Talcott. The cause of the alarm was smoke from a student cooking chicken. The area was cleared of smoke and the alarms were reset.

Dec. 8, 9:15 a.m.
Oberlin Police Department advised of an accident, involving a student, on Professor Street at Old Barrows. The student was riding her bicycle down the drive and hit a patch of ice. The bike slid out from under the student and she landed on the street. The student sustained scratches and bruises on her face. She was transported to Allen Medical Center to be checked.

Dec. 8, 11:25 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the third floor of Barrows. Upon arrival, smoke and flames were observed coming from the microwave in the kitchenette. The fire was extinguished and the cause of the alarm was possibly an electrical malfunction. No injuries were reported.
