Perspectives

Have you decided what your Winter Term project will be?

I’m taking a class next semester on J.S. Bach, and a pre-requisite for that was to read the Bach biography and a baroque survey as a “heads up” for the class. I’ll also be working for a soy-breeder.
—Jesse Livingston
Conservatory sophomore

I’m interning at Albany Symphony Orchestra. I’ll work in the music library and sort scores. I’ll also interview the orchestral members, the solo singer and the conductor to compile a journal.
—Libby Shaup
Double-degree first-year

I’m doing research in inorganic chemistry lab, so I’ll be here. I’m working for faculty, and the project will be determined by the progress within the next few weeks.
—David Mendelson
College junior

I’m going to Benin, West Africa to see my family and hang out. The EPA is trying to clean the pollution and my uncle is heading the project. I’ll be helping out.
—Morola Adjibodou
College first-year

I’m going to Mexico with a friend to do a study on Mayan ruins, culture and art. It’s basically backpacking and archaeology.
—Rachel Senecal

I’m going to Guadalajara, Mexico. I’m taking the Intro Spanish 101 with the Spanish
Exchange program.
—Nate Gorham

I’ll be here training in Capoiera Angola. It’s a Brazilian dance / martial arts form. It’s a way how slaves disguised their training in marial arts. Also, I’ll be rehearsing for the show Essence by Dance Diaspora that’s coming up.
—Sherece Donalds
College sophomore

I’m staying here. I’m taking the Music Tech. class with Tom Lopez. As a composition major, I’m using that to fulfill a requirement. I’ll also be studying music theory to get ahead, jamming like mad, reading a lot and practicing violin etudes.
—Jeff Young
Conservatory first-year
