Alumnus questions Oberlin’s appearance in film Eurotrip

To the Editors:

Here’s a tip from the Hollywood beat. Last night at the premiere of DreamWorks’ inane teen comedy Eurotrip, I was startled to see that the final scene takes place at Oberlin College.

A crimson and gold banner is shown prominently in several shots of a dorm room and the school name appears in a graphic at the bottom of the screen.

Yet not one frame of this appears to have been shot on campus — the dorm set is obviously phony (shiny gold room numbers on the door?!) and footage used to establish the campus is obviously not Oberlin.

My question: What kind of endowment-funded pay went into this “product” placement?
