2005 Class President Statements

Cristina Briboneria
If voted Senior Class President, I know that I will do the best of my abilities to voice the opinions and needs of the graduating class. I feel that it is important to be a social and well-rounded student. For the past three years, I have been involved in many events such as the annual multicultural dance show, Colors of Rhythm, I have dj’d parties at the Sco with my crew, and I am a three-year varsity-letter-winning athlete. I have also held peer-liaison and Co-Chair positions for the Filipino American Student Association. Through FASA, I have learned techniques for fundraising and social interaction, which will help in programing during SENIOR YEAR! I am a McNair Research Scholar, and double major in Mathematics and History. On top of all this, I understand the importance of chillin’ on a beautiful day in Wilder Bowl. PLEASE VOTE CRISTINA BRIBONERIA, SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT.

As a member of the class of 2005 I am going to continue to dedicate myself to the wonderful experience of being a part of the Oberlin College Community during my last year, whether or not it is as a Class Officer. I am a well rounded student-athlete, musician, as well as a Neuroscience major who loves academic life as much as I enjoy the diversity of social life and students in Oberlin. Though a passionate science major I have taken a broad spectrum of classes including some in the conservatory and art department, I enjoy all facets of Oberlin academics. My last few years here have been everything I had hoped college to be and much more; by applying to be a Class Officer I only ask to have the opportunity to help make our last year here even better than the years before. Thank you!

I am a piano performance/neuroscience major. My years at Oberlin have strengthened in me a passion for learning and continuous improvement, made me realize the importance of educated awareness, and encouraged me to respect diversity of thought. My leadership experience includes...elementary and middle school student council vice-presidency and presidency, respectively. Well, for what I may lack in recent political experience I compensate in enthusiasm and dedication. If elected, I will be committed to accurately representing the voice of our graduating class, honoring its diversity of need and opinion. I realize that our strength as a class lies not only in individuality, but in community. I have much enjoyed my time at Oberlin, and look eagerly toward our final semesters. Thank you for you time.

My decision to run for Senior Class Council is motivated by inherent my desire to lead, listen to the people that I represent, and employ my talents of creativity and strong analytical thinking to create the best outcomes. I relate well with others and, given the opportunity, I exhibit the appropriate level of leadership to obtain the desired result. I’m passionate about all I do, and have no problem identifying problems and doing something about them. I have appreciated every moment of being your current class president and hope to continue working with all of you. I will do the best I can to make next year for the Class of 2005 (the best class to come to Oberlin yet) have a wonderful conclusion to an emotional and wonderful time here in the middle of nowhere, Ohio.

I am running for Class President for 2005. I am currently a Junior and am a triple major: Theater, Politics and African American Studies. I am delighted to be running for Senior Class President as I cherish the potential possibilities and impact that I may have on my class and the Oberlin community. In addition, I look forward to representing the student body and creating dynamic programs for students. Through my experience in various student organizations, I have gained valuable experiences necessary for such a position. I have been the Resident Assistant of the Afrikan Heritage House (2002-2004), Co-Chair for Abusua, Business Manager and performer of And What!?, Student Senator, and Editor for In Solidarity. I am confident that my previous work will enable me to represent and serve your needs, and hope you will provide me the chance to do so.
