Thanks for honoring Beverly

To the Editors:

We, the family of Rachel Beverly, wish to express our gratitude and sincere appreciation to all of those who took part in Rachel’s memorial service.

To President Nancy Dye, we are deeply honored to have two funds established in Rachel’s name, one to further cancer research and the other to encourage educational diversity. We would also like to thank Dean of Students Peter Goldsmith for supporting Rachel’s staff and all of the students in preparing and delivering a touching celebration of Rachel’s life.

We thank the musicians, the special pianist, the choir and special singers, the speakers, those who baked cookies and prepared food, those who painted the rocks in her name, those who placed the cards on the trees, those who tied ribbons on the shrubbery, the ushers who handed out ribbons and programs, the special flower arrangements and the beautiful picture of Rachel that was on the stage. Those in charge of the program, the cameraman, those who prepared the outside of the building depicting Rachel’s accomplishments and all those that we have failed to mention.

Words cannot express how we feel about you. Rachel would have been so proud of you. We also thank all who attended Rachel’s funeral. What a show of love for our precious Rachel.

We would also like to thank YB, Kim and Barb, Rachel’s staff and all of the students. You could not have been nicer or done more. We will never forget your tireless effort and love that you showed for Rachel. All of your hard work was recognized and appreciated.

–The family of Rachel Beverly
