New Student Senators here

To the Editors:

We are pleased to announce that elections are over for the Spring 2004 Student Senate, and that Senate is now fully functioning. We look forward to a productive semester during which we hope to hear students’ questions, comments and concerns and voice them to the appropriate administrative departments. We hope to improve communication between Senate and the student body and make ourselves more visible and accessible.

Each Senator is required to hold at least two office hours per week, and these are posted on the Student Senate bulletin board in Wilder basement. Students can find information about Senate on this bulletin board, including contact information for each Senator, legislation that Senate has passed and important events that affect students’ lives on campus.

Within the next two weeks, Senate will be holding a Committee Fair. Students will be able to sign up to interview for student positions on faculty committees. Please contact us for a full list of these committees and available positions on each.

Student Senate is stronger with the support and participation of the student body. We recognize that the responsibility lies on Senate to maintain communication with the students, and we make it one of our goals this semester to do just that. With student participation in our advertised events, and with student input into our activities, we can realize our full potential as an institutional body through which students can effect changes on campus and in their lives.
