Nicole Sanderson, 18

Nicole Sanderson, an 18-year-old Oberlin resident with strong family ties to Oberlin College was killed last Thursday in a car crash on Route 20.

The accident was caused by a collision with a tractor-trailer rig, which crushed her vehicle, trapping her inside.

Sanderson was taken to Allen Medical Center and then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where she was pronounced dead.

An Oberlin resident since 1999, Sanderson graducated from Oberlin High School in 2003. She was currently attending Lorain County Community College.

Nicole’s mother Karla works as an Administrative Technician in the Oberlin College controller’s office. Her father John Sanderson is well known to many students as the principal cellist of the Community Strings.

A memorial service was held last Monday at First Church in Oberlin,
