Thanking Oberlin, Executives

To the Editor:

It has been my privilege and pleasure to serve as treasurer of the Oberlin College Alumni Association for the past four years. As I near the end of my term of office, I have a few observations about service as a member of the Executive Board of the Association.

Probably my strongest impression is the incredibly strong sense of dedication to Oberlin College demonstrated by each and every member of the Executive Board.

Four weekends each year, we gather to review and discuss matters relating to the issues facing the College and to formulate our recommendations. We come from a wide geographic area and from an even wider range of professions.

Yet when we come together, our focus is solely on what we can do to assist and support out beloved alma mater.

I in particular, and all of us, owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Midge Brittingham, Margaret Erikson, Paul Wolansky and the Alumni Office staff (Kim Kosonovich, Linda Gwinn and Kathy Ward) for their wise counsel and never-ending support.

Every single time that I asked for help, it was reciprocated by a strongly positive response. I am confident that this experience will continue under Laura Gobbi’s able leadership.

I wish to thank all of those involved for the honor and privilege of serving four wonderful years in your midst. The friendships formed and the shared experiences and just plain “fun” we had have been rewarding. With strong dedication and leadership in place, the Alumni Association will continue its love affair with Oberlin College for generations to come.

I also want to congratulate the graduating seniors and urge them to stay in contact with the college via the Alumni Association. Keep your contact information up to date.

I strongly encourage you to become involved with Association activities. It has been an experience I will treasure for the rest of my days.
