In memory: Belinda Hodgkin

Lifelong Oberlin community member and longtime College employee Belinda Hodgkin passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2 after a long illness.

Belinda worked for 36 years in the Development and Alumni Affairs Office as a gift processor. She was an Oberlin native, having lived in the area all her life, and was very devoted to the College and her work here. She was known by her colleagues and friends as gracious and inclusive and always willing to make time for anyone who needed her help.

Belinda’s personal interests included gardening, traveling, movies and bowling. She was active in the community as a member of the First Church of Oberlin as well as the Order of the Eastern Star, a faith-based fraternal organization that does charitable and public work.

Members of the community are invited this Friday, Feb. 11 to call between 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cowling Funeral Home, 228 S. Main Street. Funeral services will be held at the same location at 11 a.m. the following day. Memorial gifts and donations can be given to the Belinda Lavonne Hodgkin Scholarship Fund in the Office of Development in Bosworth Hall.

The College extends its deepest condolences to Belinda’s companion, Bill Rutherford, her son Bryan, her parents Jack and Viola Hodgkin, her brother Kim and her three grandchildren.
