Security flyers ignore basic tenets of U.S. law

To the Editor:
I was greatly annoyed when I read the flyer from security that was sent out on Feb. 28. The flyer showed an incredible sloppiness in regards to the basic tenet of the U.S. Law of "Innocent Until Proven Guilty." Security said in the flyer that "a male suspect who has assaulted females" had been apprehended and that he was being held as well for "similar assaults which he committed in another Ohio City." Regardless of whether the suspect was positively identified by all of the victims, and despite the fact that violation of "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" by the Law Enforcement System is an every day event in our country, some semblance of suspects' rights should be maintained when the public is notified of an arrest. The statements in this flyer do great damage to the reputation of College Security at a time when their image is already at an all-time low.
