Asst. dean search committee picks top candidates

The search committee for the Assistant Dean of Student Life and Services has received about 75 applications.

The committee will contact the top five or six candidates. After the committee has narrowed down the candidates to a few top contendors, the applicants will be brought to campus. Co-chair of the search committee and Associate Dean of Academic Services Gloria White said that students would be encouraged to meet the candidates and voice their preferences at that point.

The committee is specifically looking for candidates who would be able to represent the Asian-American community.

The committee re-convenes again this afternoon to narrow candidate pool to eight to 10 applicants.

Free laser printing on trial basis

The College will provide free laser printing to students on a trial basis starting sometime after Spring Break.

If students do not abuse the free laser printing services, the possibility that free laser printing will continue to be offered beyond the end of this academic year exists, according to Kevin Weidenbaum, director of client services.

"If things get out of hand," Weidenbaum said, "we may have to cut out the test prematurely."

Weidenbaum said making an excessive amount of print-outs is not what the laser printers are for. "Making 20, 100 copies … that's not what the laser printer is meant to do."

The free laser printing will be officially announced after Spring Break.
