Cole-Newkirk to write proposal; will ask students, administrators for input
The Student Life Committee asked Dean of Student Life and Services Charlene Cole to write a co-ed housing proposal at their last meeting. The proposal would be influenced by meetings with faculty, administrators as well as the results of an all-campus survey.
Abusua offended over use of the word slave in posters
Today's scheduled "slave auction" sponsored by the Bondage and Discipline/Sadism and Masochism (B&D/SM) groups has been moved to April 19 after concerns were raised by Abusua, Oberlin's black student union. Members of Abusua had taken offense to the use of the idea of a slave auction.
For first time, event will be a week
The admission statistics for the perspective Class of 2000 have been announced. The Conservatory had the most applications in history, and the rates for minority students as a whole went up. The admit rate went down five percentage points, leaving it at 67.5 percent.

First of two Security candidates visits
The first of two Security candidates visited campus early this week. Few students came to forums designed to indroduce them to the candidiate. A second candidate will visit next week.
