SFAFP do not support all of Siddique's rhetoric

To the Editor:

This is a statement from Students For A Free Palestine regarding our position on speakers and publications, specifically Dr. Siddique.

-Students For a Free Palestine is an organization which stands firmly against the colonialist settler state of Israel which occupies both Palestine and Southern Lebanon.

-Students For a Free Palestine is an organization which stands firmly against all forms of oppression and repression, including the events of the Holocaust.

-Students For a Free Palestine believes the article entitled, "Why are People of German Descent Silent Despite Their Daily Abuse?" in The New Trend to be historically inaccurate, and inconsistant with the beliefs of SFP. Those who have questions or comments regarding this article or this publication should contact the paper directly. We are not affiliated with this, or any other, newspaper nor should we be held responsible for any publication which is not our own.

-We do not feel that by bringing a speaker to campus we should necessarily support all of his or her views. Everything said beyond the realm of what we ask that person to speak on is his or her own responsibility. Dr. Siddique was asked to speak on "Zionism and the Current `Peace Process,'" and that is what we are responsible for.

-Students For a Free Palestine are not Holocaust revisionists. We acknowledge and decry the atrocities of the Holocaust, however, our organization does not focus on this event. Our issue resides with the settlement of Israel which occupies and oppresses Palestinian people and land.
