Correction:

The story "Frank Wiley chosen as new Director of Security," is incorrect. Keith James, not Frank Wiley, was chosen as the new Director of Security.

James will take office at Oberlin July 1. James is currently director of security at the College of Wooster.

James accepted the position Thursday. He and Frank Wiley, the chief of the campus police force at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and Baltimore County, were the finalists for the position.

Both visited campus in the past few weeks and met with students and staff.

Only a few students attended James's student forum April 8 where he discussed his philosophies about a student-centered security operation and gave a presentation on how he'd deal with sexual assault cases.

In the part of his forum about sexual assault, James said anonymity is important for the victim and the suspect.

Joe DiChristina has been Oberlin's acting security chief since October, when Richard McDaniel resigned as chief after 17 years at Oberlin.

The Review apologizes for its reporting error. A detailed account of its reporting process on this story will appear in the May 3 issue of the Review.
