The following is a summary of reports filed by the Oberlin College Department of Safety and Security.

May 2, 1996, 3:08 a.m. Officers from Security and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Talcott, second floor. The cause of the alarm was found to be dust in a detector. The alarms were reset.

9:21 a.m. Staff reported a theft of food items from the vending machine in the lobby of Lord House. No pry marks or forced entry was observed. Approximately $150 in product was removed from the machine.

May 3, 11:21 a.m. A student reported the theft of a camera from a studio in Warner Center. The camera was valued at $400. No suspects are known at this time.

4:15 p.m. The staff at the College Lanes at Hales Gym reported theft of approximately $107 from a safe. Oberlin Police Department units also responded for a report. The incident is under investigation .

May 4, 4:53 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a vehicle turfing the grass around Price Hall. A suspect was located and advised against his action. Estimated amount of damage is unknown at this time.

May 6, 6:49 p.m. Security officers and Oberlin Police Department responded to Oberlin Inn upon receiving an intrusion alarm. It was learned that the alarm was apparently activated due to a malfunction. Units left the area.

May 7, 12:01 a.m. An Oberlin resident requested assistance from Security officers with an ill student. Student was transported to Allen Memorial Hospital emergency room for medical treatment. Staff from Residential Life also responded.

May 8, 9:17 p.m. Resident of Zechiel reported the alarm activated in the building. Officers responded and located the detector in alarm. A work order was filed for cleaning or replacement.
