Some people still do not know that Tupac is dead

To the Editor:

Remember when Rodney King asked the question, "Can't we all just get along?" Everyone thought about it for a second, but never pondered the question. Now it's just a joke, something used to describe how messed up things are. In reality, this short statement needs to be answered.

Two weeks ago Tupac Shakur died. Another casualty of black on black crime. No matter what you thought about Tupac, he represented hip-hop to millions of people. And now he's dead, because we can't get along. Some will say blacks can't get along, but I thought in this melting pot called America, blacks are included in the "we." In California more blacks and Latinos are in jail than in college. I am in that small percentage of Latinos attending college, but there should be more. There's so much more to say, but does the Oberlin community really want to concern itself with anything outside of Oberlin? I don't think so. Some people still don't know that Tupac Shakur, a black celebrity, was gunned down. I guess they don't really care.
