Transitions can be hard

Transition is hard. Sometimes, it makes people unhappy. Sometimes, mistakes are made. But only time will show the true effects transition has had on an institution.

Keith James is the new Director of Security here at Oberlin College. He is off to a rough start with some of the Security officers. But, that is to be expected with any major change. James just needs to remember that the people working under him have been here longer than he has and may have some valuable insights. But, being here a long time may also be a hindrance. Sometimes, it is hard to step back from a situation and assess what is actually happening.

If everyone works together, conflicts will pass. And in the end, the Department of Safety and Security may be better off than ever before.
