Another weekend, another chance to get out of Oberlin. The following are as good excuses as any for everyone to check out the surroundings and get cultured.

At the Cleveland Museum of Art this weekend, Legacy of Light: Master Photographs from the Cleveland Museum of Art opens Nov. 24. The first major exhibition to focus on the museum's distinguished photography collection, Legacy of Light brings together over 1,850 works by 131 exceptional artists. For more information, call (216) 421-7340.

The Flanders Recorder Quartet performs this evening in Harkness Chapel in Cleveland to kick off Case Western Reserve University's (CWRU) 1996-97 early music concert season. 8 p.m., student tickets are $10. For more information, call (216) 932-1689.

The FAVA gallery opens its doors Nov. 24 for a Members' Holiday Show featuring painting, drawing, prints, sculpture, photography, fiber, jewelry and ceramics for sale. All proceeds help support area artists. Gallery is located in the New Union Center for the Arts, open Tuesday through Saturday 12-5p.m. and Sundays 2-4 p.m.

The Battle for Christmas , brought to you via the Cleveland Public Theatre and C.I.A., shows tonight and Saturday at 10:30 p.m. Written, produced and directed by Donald J. Morrison, this play has been dubbed "what has become an alternative holiday classic." Tickets are $6 for students.

Arts...Out of Town was compiled by Lauren Viera. Any additional out of Oberlin events worthy of publishing in the  Review should be announced to the Arts staff. Call Laren, Gaby or Lauren at x8123. Simple.
