To the Editor:
During the course of last week, Oberlin Animal Rights was informed of the following occurrence. Early Monday morning, the Sperry Neuroscience building was vandalized in a statement against vivisection. Blood red paint was poured over the outside doors of the building, the locks to the doors were filled with glue, and the words "STOP VIVISECTION" were painted on the sidewalk. The college cleaned up the paint and replaced the locks by noon, and proceeded to keep information from the Oberlin public, other than a blurb in the Oberlin Review Security Notebook about seemingly random red paint on Sperry's doors.
Oberlin Animal Rights is in no way responsible for or associated with this vandalism. We neither condone nor condemn this illegal act. We only wish that the Oberlin public knows of such events if they occur, in the interest of awareness and dialogue concerning campus issues and happenings. We find it inappropriate that the college authorities failed to inform the public of such and event on our campus.
