Mailing sent about first assaulted only
Two assaults occured this week off campus. The first assault occured behind the Oberlin Inn and was the subject of an all-campus mailing.
Faculty hear computer report
The General Faculty met Tuesday and discussed tecnicalities of the Holtzman, Koppes and Levin hearings that are held up. The PCRC interpereted a rule governing their scope as a ruling body to exclude them from ruling on a grievence filed by a faculty member against an administrator.
Statistics two years after change indicate no effects
The transition from need-blind admissions has not noticeably affected the ethnic make-up of the college. The financial aid office estimates that only 5 percent of applicants are evaluated on a need conscious status.
Planning committees still working out kinks
The long range planning committees are preparing for the all-campus town meeting on March 2. The 14 planning teams met over winter term and this semester. Student input at the town meeting will be integrated into committee discussions and the final reports issued in April will go to the General Faculty and then the Board of Trustees.
Senate deals with student services and rule chanegs
The student Senate passed a proposal to reinstate the clauses deleted by Charlene Cole-Newkirk this summer. They also discussed phone contracts and the meal plan.
Califia celebrates, elaborates on radical sex
Pat Califia spoke Saturday about sexual norms in society. Her speech both celebrated and explained the value she sees in radical sex and challenging sexual norms.
Speaker and dance troupe scheduled
The African-American Studies department is bringing Beverly Guy-Sheftall to speak at Afrikan Heritage House today. Other events are planned for the weekend in recognace of African American History month.
Issues of communication and relations discussed
The Student Life Committee met to discuss plans for the upcoming semester. They discussed the situation of the Student Senate and its position in the college today.
