For those of you who have been saving your outings for rainy days, be prepared for a wet weekend. With recitals aplenty and even a lecture on rowing, perhaps now's the time to get yourself into Cleveland to check out the scene. Following are your possibilities:

Sponsored by the Fine Arts Association, a suzuki solo recital will be held at Corning Auditorium at the School of Fine Arts Mar. 1 at 2 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call (216) 951-6637.

Also put on by the Fine Arts Association, a faculty concert is scheduled for Mar. 2 at 3 p.m. Featuring Charles Baker, Judith Elias and Jacqueline Platten, the concert will be held at Corning Auditorium. Admission is free. For more information, call (216) 951-6637.

On Mar. 2, Alan Morrison will perform an organ recital at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Works by J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Widor, Duruflé, Locklair and Hampton will be performed. The concert is at 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call (216) 421-7340.

Lorain County Community College presents Shakespeare's The Tempest directed by Ralph McGinnis. The play runs tonight and Mar. 1 and Mar. 6-8 at 8 p.m. and a matinee Mar. 2 will show at 2 p.m. Admission is $4 for students. For more information, call 1-800-995-5222 ext. 4040.

An opening reception for FAVA's 18th annual Juried Photography Exhibition takes place Mar. 2 from 2-4 p.m. with an award ceremony at 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call (216) 21315464.

A lecture on rowing will be given Mar. 2 at the Cleveland Museum of Art beginning at 2:30 p.m. Speaking is Thomas E. Weil, Jr., a Houston attorney and connoisseur of the sport; his slide show is entitled "Blues, Blades and Blisters: Popular Images of Rowing." Admission is free. Apollo's Fire presents Bach's St. John Passion, performed by the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra with the Apollo singers, to be performed tonight and Mar. 1 at 8 p.m. and also Mar. 1 at 3:30 p.m. 8 p.m. performances will take place at St. Paul's Church in Cleveland Heights and the 3 p.m. performance will be at St. James Catholic Church in Lakewood. Cleveland Institute of Art's 51st Annual Student Independent Exhibition opens with a showcase tonight from 6-9 p.m. in CIA's Reinberger Galleries. The exhibition celebrates student works from the applied and fine arts and crafts. Admission is free. For more information, call (216) 421-7469.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Carousel comes to Cleveland's Palace Theatre beginning Mar. 4. A musical about "a ne'er-do-well's marriage to a gentle factory girl whom he subsequently fails in every possible way," Carousel is sure to be a winner. Tickets range from $23.50-$42.50. The J.D. Wyss classic The Swiss Family Robinson will show Mar. 1 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Mar. 2 at 3 p.m. on the Ohio Theatre Stage. The new musical features an exciting tale of the shipwrecked family and their "challenges of unexpected danger" involving the island they call home. Tickets are $8 plus service charge. The Wexner Center for the Arts will give their 1996 Wexner Prize to filmmaker Martin Scorsese today at 1 p.m. At 7:30p.m. tonight, an on-stage public conversation between Scorsese and film critic Roger Ebert in Mershon Auditorium. Admission is free. For more information, call (612) 292-0390.

The Cleveland Play House's production of Oleanna opens for previews Mar. 4. The play has a history of provoking debate about sexual harassment issues and is a wonderful source for controversial reactions. Mar. 2 is the last day to see The Importance of Being Earnest at the Cleveland Play House. First staged in 1895, the play is still one of the most produced comedies in the English language. Performances are 8 p.m. tonight, 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Mar. 1 and 2 p.m. Mar. 2. Tickets are $25-$35. For more information, call (216) 795-7000 ext. 235.

A Bach birthday concert featuring the composer's motet Lobet den Herrn and the Ascension Oratiorio will be performed by the Covenant Choir with the Chamber Orchestra at the Church of the Covenant Mar. 3 at 8 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call (216) 421-0482.
